Overall, members strongly stated that they believe further targeted consultation is essential and that currently the scope of practice could have grave implications across a sector working with some of SA’s most marginalised children, young people and families.
We recommend a phased implementation where, in the first phase, registration occurs for those in roles titled ‘social work’ and those holding social work degrees.
The second phase of implementation requires deep engagement with the sector to establish a scope that fits with the diversity of roles and qualifications suitable to providing human services.
An implementation plan should be co-designed with the sector to ensure that service delivery is elevated rather than constrained by the proposed changes.
Child and Family Focus SA acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, the Kaurna and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded and this was and always will be Aboriginal land.
We appreciate and celebrate diversity in all its forms. We believe diversity of all kinds makes our teams, services, organisations and communities stronger and more effective.
