This document outlines the position of CAFFSA on the Children and Young People (Safety and Support) Bill 2024 (‘the Bill’). CAFFSA held consultation with members to inform this submission, including a sector consultation via CAFFSA’s Policy and Advocacy Committee, a collaborative meeting with a range of partners via SACOSS and input to our response by our Lived Experience Consultant. CAFFSA also acknowledges support for the submissions of our member agencies, SACOSS, Wakwakura Kanyini, and the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement.

Submission to the SA AODS Strategy 2024-2030

The submission emphasizes that the South Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy 2024-2030 should focus on trauma-informed approaches and preventing childhood trauma as key factors in addressing substance misuse. It highlights the interconnected issues of homelessness, domestic violence, mental health, and the need for better access to services and family-oriented rehabilitation.

CAFFSA Forum May 2022 “Improving Family Wellbeing and Child Protection: What are our priorities for the next four years in SA?”

CAFFSA’s Forum “Improving Family Wellbeing and Child Protection: What are our priorities for the next four years in SA?” was held on 6 May 2022. Sixty-eight participants attended from 28 organisations with a series of interactive panel discussions. There were also five video presentations recorded especially for the forum.

CAFFSA prepared a Discussion Paper for members to consider prior to the forum.
